Portsmouth NH ~ Citywide Wi-Fi Coming Soon!

Portsmouth New Hampshire implemented a free wi-fi area a couple of years or so ago in the downtown business area.  It's gone over so well and the use of it has grown so much that the City of Portsmouth will be expanding our free wi-fi area
This new expansion will include most areas of the town, and that is great news!  Terrific news for residents and businesses alike!  And I'd bet our visitors will be loving having access to free wireless internet while visiting our lovely seaside town, too! More...

Portsmouth NH ~ USS Albacore Park ~ Fun, Education, and History!

One of those great places that showcases some of the history here in Portsmouth is the USS Albacore Park, just a few steps from downtown, and very easy to get to from the major highways. The USS Albacore was placed in retirement in September 1972 at the Naval Base in Philadelphia.  One of our former city councilors had a dream of bringing the Albacore home to her birth-port of Portsmouth NH.  Many others here in this area agreed, and after MOUNDS of paperwork and a few years of work and meetings, this park began to become a reality. Is Your Town SUSTAINABLE?

I was reading a copy of Midwest Living Magazine, and came across a small little article that was titled, "Midwest Metros Get Green".  The title caught my eye, so I read a little more....This article was talking about cities that had been ranked as being among the most 'sustainable' in America.  To be considered 'sustainable', the group who did the ranking looked at public transportation, local food sources, energy usage, water and air quality, park space, walkability, and more.  Other factors they looked at, in the event of how well a city can perform in the face of emergencies, was energy crisis preparedness and natural disaster risk.
